Jeff Betancourt

Jeff Betancourt graduated from USC’s School of Cinema-Television in 1996 and 1997 was awarded a screenwriting fellowship from The Walt Disney Company.  

While still in film school, Betancourt began editing an independent film called Star Maps for director Miguel Arteta and producer Matthew Greenfield that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. Star Maps began a string of successful independent films that including the Sundance hits Chuck and Buck, The Good Girl and The United States Of Leland.  

In 2003, he collaborated with Mandate Pictures and director Danny Leiner on Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. 

In 2004, he began working with producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert on The Grudge which went on the gross $187 million dollars worldwide.  Following this success, Betancourt went on to cut some of the most high profile and financially successful horror films of the decade: The Exorcism of Emily Rose, When a Stranger Calls, The Grudge 2, The Unborn, and The Ruins on which he also served as second unit director.

Jeff directed Boogeyman 2 for Ghost House Pictures served as co-producer on David S. Goyer’s ABC seriesFlashForward.
He recently completed work on the re-make of MGM’s Poltergeist and is beginning work on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Part II for the Weinstein Company and director Woo-Ping Yuen.
